OWT 4: Spirituality of the Universal Church
Increasing Longing For Religiousness
In the last few years sociologists of religion called attention to the process of re-spiritualization, i.e. an increasing longing for religiosity that is also taking place in German society. The Church in Germany experiences that she is in great demand, especially where people witness spiritual experiences. The spiritual wealth of the Church grows from her tradition on the one side and from the encounter with other religions and cultures on the other side.
The fourth volume of the book series One World Theology observes these diverse traditions and highlights the spiritual wealth which distinguishes Christianity as well as how Christian spirituality – particularly in dialogue with other religions and cultures – takes the incentive to new development.
